[DjBjra] - Valley of the Wind

"Excellent."

date: August 19, 2009

The melody and the instruments come together to make a soothing yet energetic song which I'll listen to again and again.

Battle Piano Loop

"Nothing exciting."

submission: Battle Piano Loop
date: August 19, 2009

I'm not particularly thrilled about this song. The piano voice you used sounds very generic, which is fine if you're only concerned about making a really catchy melody. The problem is, the tune sounds very unexciting and generic. And it definitely doesn't sound like it would be a battle theme. Overall, the song makes almost no impression on me. If I were to suggest an improvement, it would be to come up with some distinct tune which can hold its own for 2 minutes. Failing that, you could just use more instruments.

Lunatic Moon (Final Fantasy 7)

"Excellent work."

date: August 19, 2009

I loved this song ever since I first heard it in Voices of the Lifestream. It still stands out among the tracks as one of the best. I'm glad you have an account here; it makes it easy for me to keep up to date on your music.

About the score, don't worry, I almost never give out 10s (at least, not anymore).

Sonic 3 - Credits

"Beautiful."

submission: Sonic 3 - Credits
date: June 5, 2008

The melody was just amazing. The slight changes from the original tune did not detract at all from the sheer amazement I experienced listening to this...

...but I want more.

Yes it was beautiful, but I found myself wanting a full orchestral rendition after hearing this. You teased me with a orchestral drum at the beginning, and never built on it from there. I'd like to hear the slow soothing drum beating rhythmically, the clarinets' sound sailing through the air, and the brass bringing the piece to a climactic finish.

So I ask you - no, I implore you - submit something which accomplishes all of this. To hear something so amazing would make my life complete.

Wow, thats a lot riding on one song! I'm so glad this impacted you so much. I've actually considered fleshing this out with a more complete orchestra, I just might do it one of these days ;)

Infinite Mine

"I don't know what it is..."

The choice of instruments, the upscaling of the music, the tune itself. Whatever it is, this is one of the most epic Sonic remixes on Newgrounds I've heard so far. Kudos.

Fighting (FF7 remix type)

"The song feels... flat."

date: March 6, 2008

I kept waiting for it to pick up and blow me away. Instead, the whole song feels like a lead-in to an epic song. The part towards the end isn't soft either, so ultimately, the whole song is like a road in Oklahoma instead of a roller coaster. It does have a shred of epicness in it, but not enough to really be recognized as a particularly successful remix.

Sonic 3 credits - reworking

"Not bad, not bad."

date: March 6, 2008

I found it fairly enjoyable. However, as far as remix quality goes, I just don't feel like it lives up to the original. One of the trademarks of the original is the super-fast instrument that plays in the background. Even if it is almost impossible to reproduce, you should have still attempted to make a similar sound. The song just feels empty without it. As for the main instruments, I felt they were just a bit too soft. They need to be a little louder and stronger, especially to make up for what you left out of the song.

Again, it is very, very difficult to make a song which can live up to, let alone exceed, the overwhelmingly glorious feeling you get from the original composition. But hey, you didn't butcher it, so that deserves some acknowledgement.

S3 | Metal Madness

"Very, very good."

submission: S3 | Metal Madness
date: November 6, 2007

It has a bit of a rough sound to it, but it's very enjoyable overall. If you ever decide to redo it, though, you should lower the volume at certain points (it gets too loud once in a while) and eliminate the fuzz.

But it's not horrible. It's just bad. So you exceeded expectations. I can only give suggestions which were made in previous reviews. I suggest you follow them.
